CRATERS ON THE MOON

A POEM BY ADAM HEBDITCH
SCROLL TO OBSERVE

Life begins a fresh formation,

without blemish, a new creation.

A brand new moon shining bright,

a future lying out of sight.

A cycle starts, a daily orbit.

With each pass, memories recorded.

Quiet fractures into shock,

when comets strike the moon is rocked.

Deep chasms in the impact zone,

forever etched into the stone.

Bonds are formed and paths are crossed,

Some sparks ignite and some are lost.

Strikes are sudden, wild and strange,

and in a blink the course is changed.

Some wander close and skim right past,

To only drift into the dark.

But even though they fly right by,

gravity will change their flight.

Two fleeting paths, brief arcs deflected,

Their presence felt, not undetected.

The moonrock shifts, reforms and grows,

a unique print forever shows.

What strikes tomorrow as it looms?

Another crater on the moon.
